Happy Summer 2018!


As another school year winds down, we want to remind members that the ETFO Provincial Office will remain open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. from July 3rd to August 31st. Members needing emergency assistance outside of these hours should follow this advice on our website.

 

Annual Meeting takes place August 13-16 in Toronto and will kick off a year of celebrating ETFO's 20th Anniversary. Interested members can follow all the action as we post regular updates on our blog, Twitter feed, and Facebook page.

 

This will be the final eNewsletter of the school year. We will resume publication in September. On behalf of the staff at Provincial Office and the Provincial Executive, we wish all members a happy, restful and safe summer.


PROVINCIAL ELECTION 2018

Members Elected to Queen's Park


Congratulations to the ETFO members elected to Queen's Park! On June 7, member Jennifer French was re-elected as the NDP MPP for Oshawa and Terence Kernaghan, a Thames Valley member, was elected as the NDP MPP for London North Centre.

The 2018 provincial election saw a record number of ETFO members put their names on the ballot. The other eight are:

  • NDP candidatesPekka Reinio (Barrie-Innisfil) and Felicia Samuel (Scarborough-Rouge Park); 
  • Liberal candidatesAnn Hoggarth (Barrie-Innisfil) and Heather Megill  (Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry);
  • Green candidatesSarah Hutchinson (Mushkegowuk-James Bay), Ember McKillop (Kenora-Rainy River) and  Matt Richter (Parry Sound- Muskoka); and
  • Independent candidateLaura Chesnik (Windsor-Tecumseh).

Call for AQ Course Writers

 

ETFO-AQ_ By Teachers_ For Teachers

ETFO-AQ is seeking course writers for First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples: Understanding Traditional Teachings, Histories, Current Issues and Environmental Education Additional Qualification Courses. Interested ETFO members should have extensive experience in course development, curriculum writing, and professional learning.

The application deadline is Friday, July 6, 2018 at 5:00 p.m.

KINDERGARTEN

Seeking Workshop Developers/Presenters

 

Kindergarten students

ETFO is seeking Kindergarten workshop developers/presenters for a new workshop on Documenting and Communicating Learning in Kindergarten.

 

The successful candidates will be active ETFO teacher members--classroom teachers, consultants, coordinators, coaches and/or teacher-leaders--with recent experience in developing and presenting workshops/courses for Kindergarten educators.

The application deadline is Friday, July 27, 2018 at 5:00 p.m.

Sharing in Assessment Website


The ETFO assessment website has been given a total refresh and update this spring 2018. A variety of practical new tools have been added including some specifically designed for our ETFO occasional teachers.

  • Ophea is seeking 1-3 ambassadorsfor its provincial professional learning ambassador network. Ophea Ambassadors are responsible for delivering Ophea Workshops across the province, and may also support the organization's work through communications activities, participating in social media, and supporting online learning development.
