SUMMARY:Moccasins and Community:  An Indigenous Night of Connection - Thurs Jun 4 (SEAC Event)
DESCRIPTION:The Moccasin Project raises awareness of the continued removal of Indigenous children from their families into the foster care system. This event is held in collaboration with the Maawnjising Wiingushkeng Centre for Indigenous Excellence and Land-Based Learning. \n\n\n\nDa-giiwewaat (So They Can Go Home) is a national campaign to raise awareness about child apprehension impacting Indigenous children in Canada. Through education and citizen action the goal is to eradicate racism and bring children home to their families and communities. We are calling on everyone to get involved and help us make 165\,000* moccasins for Indigenous children affected by the child welfare system of Canada! Nancy Rowe decided began creating awareness in her community the Mississaugas of New Credit First Nation and we will join her efforts and contribute to her work by sewing moccasins and sending them to an Indigenous network.
