Members' Rights re EQAO Withdrawal

It is ETFO's position that EQAO be eliminated completely. The federation views province-wide testing of every student in the primary and junior divisions as both a misuse of student time, and an ineffective use of funds that should be redirected to support students' learning.

A memo has been posted on the ETFO website with information about members' rights regarding their children and withdrawal from EQAO testing. The memo includes a sample letter that members can submit to their principals requesting alternative programming for their children during EQAO.

In addition, some resources are provided to assist members with the administration of EQAO.

Working to Eliminate Anti-Black Racism

International Decade for People of African Descent - 2015-2024

Recently the Federation endorsed the United Nation's Decade for People of African Descent from 2015- 2024. The U.N. recognized "that people of African descent represent a distinct group whose human rights must be promoted and protected."

As part of its commitment to the Decade, ETFO will continue to develop curriculum resources that explore Black history, culture, identity and current-day realities of racism and discrimination in a respectful and reflective manner and that celebrates the contributions of Black Canadians to our country.

A new web page has been set up which features resources and workshops related to anti-Black racism.
