STPDL FUNDING IS CLOSED.  

PETL Course/Conference Funding and Status of Women Funding for 2025-2026 is OPEN.

The Local is committed to ensuring that members’ self determined professional learning needs are met. To this end, the Local offers a variety of ways for members to access funding for their professional learning need. In a funding year which runs from July 1 to June 30, a member can apply for:

• STPDL Funding which is for conferences & workshops

AND

• PETL COURSE Funding which is for AQs, university or college courses OR PETL CONFERENCE Funding which is for conferences & workshops

AND

• PETL STATUS Funding which is for conferences & workshops that have a women’s leadership, women’s issues or women’s equity focus

TIP – Print ALL guidelines and applications to review them. Complete and sign ALL applications at the same time. Get your Principal to sign and acknowledge any OT days requested on ALL forms at the same time.  Check the forms before scanning to ensure ALL sections are complete (even the section in which your Principal signed to ensure the information is correct.).

Send ALL applications by email to your STPDL Chair and the PETL Treasurer at the same time.

Please Note – PETL funding requests, when less than the maximum reimbursable by both STPDL and PETL Conference Funding, are generally approved after confirmation of STPDL approvals.  When forms are sent together to the Treasurer and you have cc’d your STPDL Chair, it confirms you have made an STPDL application.

For Conferences/Workshops members must apply to STPDL for an initial $500 worth of funding and up to 3 OT days. As per the note above, you should send your forms to the PETL Treasurer and your STPDL Chair at same time to facilitate communication. Please ensure you adhere to timelines and apply well in advance of the conference/workshop dates.

IMPORTANT TIMELINES:

PETL Course/Conference Funding & Status of Women Funding are open for PL that takes place between July 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026.

Members are not to apply for funding if the PL opportunity starts or ends on or after July 1, 2026 as these would be funded from next year’s budget. Applications for PETL Course/Conference and/or Status funding received on forms dated 2025-2026 for opportunities that begin on or after July 1, 2026 will NOT be processed. Members must wait until applications are updated to apply on the correct form for the funding which will fall in the correct budget year.

Applications received LATE will be DENIED (i.e., after the timelines outlined in the Guidelines specific to the type of funding).

Please review the Guidelines carefully and ensure you are following them to avoid being denied funding.

WHEN APPLYING:

All PETL applications for funding must be emailed to treasurer@etfopeel.com. Applications may also be sent in the courier or dropped off at the PETL Office – but you must still send an email to indicate it is on its way. Members can expect a response to their application within ten (10) working days (excluding July, August and September), please refrain from inquiring about the status of your application within this timeframe. 

STPDL applications must go to your STPDL Chair. Do not send applications to the STPDL Chair until the updated forms are available in September. Applications on old or generic forms will be DENIED. The list of STPDL Chairs will be posted no later than the first week of September. STPDL Chairs will had their training date on Friday, October 3rd, 2025. When funding opens in September 2025, STPDL Chairs will be accepting applications for opportunities occurring until August 31, 2026. STPDL Chairs will have a final meeting on Wednesday, June 17, 2025 to process applications received for July 2026 and August 2026 opportunities.

REIMBURSEMENT TIMELINES:

Reimbursements are only given for professional learning opportunities that have been approved. Reimbursement documentation should be sent within 90 days and by Friday, June 12, 2026 to ensure a cheque can be drafted and sent via Board courier for it to be cashed by June 30 and ensure the funds are applied to the correct fiscal year’s budget. If your course/conference falls after June 19, 2025 reimbursement cheques may be held at the PETL Office for pick up.
