STPDL Funding

Information, Guidelines and the Application have been updated for the 2025-2026 school and fiscal year. 

Members must ensure they are following the updated 2025-2026 Guidelines and their application is received by the STPDL Chair by no later than 4:00 PM the day BEFORE the meeting date which comes prior to the conference/workshop dates or AQ/ABQ course end date.

Please ensure that you have completed the most updated application with the PETL Logo at the top right above the date. Applications on old or generic forms will be DENIED.

STPDL Approvals are sent from the STPDL Chair through the courier and should arrive by the end of the month. If they have not arrived just before the deadline for the next meeting, please follow up at that time with your STPDL Chair. In that case, you may need to send your application again through email to ensure it arrives and can be processed according to the timelines outlined in the Guidelines.

Short Term Professional Development Leave Fund (STPDL) is money negotiated into the Collective Agreement for permanent contract elementary teachers to fund professional development.

The Peel District School Board has an STPDL Committee made up of fourteen (14) Chairs, one for each of its (13) Superintendencies plus one (1) for those working at centrally assigned locations. The Committee meets on a monthly basis to process applications.
Applications must be received by the correct STPDL Chair with sufficient time to process before the PD opportunity, the deadlines is no later than 4:00 PM the day before the meeting date prior to the conference or workshop dates or AQ/ABQ course end date.

The Application Form is available in a fillable PDF (downloadable below). The electronic fillable application form is for convenience, but actual signatures are required. You MUST print, sign (and get your administrator’s signature), and send to the STPDL Chair with all required documentation in ONE PDF through email or via the courier* to your STPDL Chair’s location if applicable (*if you send through the courier, follow that up with an email to your STPDL Chair a few days before the meeting date to confirm receipt).

 

Eligible members can apply to STPDL for $500 worth of funding AND up to 3 OT days.

NEW – Eligible members can apply to STPDL for up to $750 worth of funding for an AQ/ABQ.

Process:

  1. Download and read the Guidelines
  2. Download and complete the PDF Fillable Application or or Excel File 
  3. Email your STPDL Chair (cc treasurer@etfopeel.com if also requesting PETL Conference funds) or send all documentation in the courier* to your STPDL Chair’s school/Worksite (Updated September 3, 2025) with all required documentation so it arrives by no later than the meeting date which occurs before the conference or workshop. (*You should follow up by just before the meeting date with an email to your STPDL Chair to confirm the courier delivered your paperwork.
STPDL Chairs have their first meeting and training date on Friday, October 3, 2025. They are accepting applications for conference and AQ/ABQ opportunities occurring before August 31, 2025. Please do not send applications for opportunities after this date.
Please note for Summer 2026 PD opportunities all STPDL Chairs will have a final meeting on Monday, June 15, 2026. Applications for summer 2026 conferences, workshops and AQs must be received by this date to be processed.
